This Friday, 12th June, 2020 at 19:00hrs will mark the 7th consecutive Galaxy FM Zzina Awards ever since their inception in 2014. While most award shows in Uganda wither, Zzina Awards have stood the test of time and are entering the elite status previously enjoyed by PAM Awards.
This year, Galaxy FM has been joined by cosmetics giants, Movit, Sports Betting company Kagwirawo and the leading telecom service providers, MTN Uganda.
MTN Uganda has been supporting local content since breaking out on the scene. Endorsement deals were handed to some artists like Ronald Mayinja after winning the award while Bobi Wine ended up being the ambassador of the MTN Kabiriti phones when they won local Awards like the Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards.
Most recently, MTN Uganda has been involved in local Award Shows like The Pulse Buzz Teeniez Awards and the MTN Hip Hop Awards. It therefore comes as no surprise that they have decided to take part in this year’s unique Zzina Music Awards. Having an impeccable internet track record, the new touch of strictly having online voting, and now awarding should be another trick out of MTN´s bag with the solid collaboration of Movit and Kagwirawo, a digital betting guru.
This year there are over 20 Categories to vote from and two accolades will be selected by a panel of experts, that is, The Legend of the Year Award and Sports Personality of year.
The most notable nominee this year is Daddy who was nominated in 9 categories including Song of the Year for Sikikukweka and Producer of the Year. The other players with big nods include Eddy Kenzo, Cindy, John Blaq and Spice Diana amongst others.
The Zzina Awards shall be held this Friday, 12th of June, 2020 at 7pm and shall be broadcast live on the Facebook Pages of Galaxy FM and MTN Uganda.
