Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has today suspended the use of Refugee Cards and Attestation Letters from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM).
In a statement released today, the directive is as a result of “investigative findings as reported in the Daily Monitor newspaper dated 7th October 2019 under the article ‘Scam Rocks SIM Card Registration'”.

The Commission goes on to say they are in the process of formulating “stringent procedures” along with the OPM to validate the aforementioned documents so as to “mitigate further SIM registration fraud”.
