The Member of Parliament for Serere County Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife this morning died in a road traffic accident, the speaker of Parliament Hon. Anita Among announced on Monday morning.
“It is with great pain that I announce the passing on of our colleague , brother and member of Parliament for Serere County Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife in a road accident this morning,” she tweeted.
Among asked the public to stand with the family during this difficult moment.
“May his soul rest in peace,” she added.
Okabe’s land cruiser registration number UBK 995F was involved in a head-on collision with a trailer at Naboa in Budaka District.
The MP was travelling to Kampala for Parliamentary business when the accident happened.
Reports by eye witnesses reveal that Okabe died on spot while his wife died on the way to the hospital.
