Eleonor Nabwiso Wins Best African Focus Award For Her Movie Bed Of Thorns

Ugandan actress Eleanor Nabwiso of Nabwiso Films received an award at the London Art House Film Festival that took place in London on Monday. Her movie Bed of Thorns won the best Africa Focus Award. You would remember that back in 2017, she won the London Eye Film Festival which was also a huge deal.

Bed of Thorns is a Ugandan all female made drama that intercepts gender based and domestic violence, an issue that is a major concern all over Africa. The drama stars media personality Malaika Tenshi Nnyanzi, comedian Martha Kay, Agnes Kebirungi and so many more.

Bed of Thorns (#Tosirika) is a story of a girl called Stella who dreams of a fairy tale wedding but instead finds herself in an abusive one. Her girlfriends launch a mission to save her even when they are struggling themselves.

“Don’t keep quiet, come out and speak out. If you don’t speak out you could suffer from depression or a man could kill you,” said Eleanor as she promised to produce more movies on issues affecting women.

Eleonor continued to say that she has had friends undergoing gender based violence which prompted her to produce her film: Game of Thorns. She also condemned the barbaric habit of men battering women saying it is wrong and women should not keep quiet.
