The Independent Electoral Commission has set 26th September 2019 as the date for bi-elections of the Hoima and Kaabong Woman Member of Parliament.
Parliament communicated to the commission of the availability of the two vacancies after their area representatives preferred to contest in new districts. These districts are Kikuube, curved out of Hoima and Karenga which was curved out of Kaabong
The Electoral Commission chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama told the media that the nomination will be held on 28th and 29th August 2019 with campaigns to run from 30th August to 24th September 2019.
He added that public processions along the roads have been banned with candidates expected to campaign in confined designated places.
The bi-elections in Hoima and Kaabong are set to cost an amount of UGX 679M and UGX 601M respectively.
